Judy Fox and her colleagues are ready to serve the community at the brand new St. Rose Health Center gift shop. The Gift Box is open to patients, families and the general public every weekday.

“A lot of our items are pretty unique,” Fox said. “Those who come to The Gift Box should be able to find something that not everyone else has.

“If you need a little gift for a special occasion, we have plenty of options to choose from,” she added. “Or, if you want to treat yourself, that works for us too.”

The Gift Box hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Proceeds will benefit St. Rose.

“Everyone is encouraged to stop by,” Fox commented. “Even if you don’t have an appointment at St. Rose, it is a fun place to shop. Yes, it is smaller than our previous gift shop, but it has more space than you’d think; there is plenty of room to display our new merchandise.”

The unique inventory includes purses, scarves, jewelry, angels, spices, jellies, night-lights, picture frames and knick-knacks.

Fox started volunteering at St. Rose’s gift shop in 2001 and has been there ever since.

“When I retired from teaching, I needed something worthwhile to do and chose St. Rose’s excellent volunteer program,” Fox said. “All of us are very excited to be back and look forward to visiting with old and new friends. We always get back more than we give when we volunteer.

“Anyone with a few hours to spare is encouraged to check into St. Rose volunteer opportunities,” she continued. “Whether you want to be an escort for patients, or help in the surgery waiting room, or work in The Gift Box, there is something for everyone.”

Nikki Adams, director of Volunteer & Associate services, noted that each St. Rose volunteer plays a vital role in supporting patients, families and employees.

“The volunteers are the face of St. Rose,” Adams said. “Our dedicated group at The Gift Box really wanted to open a shop in our new facility. They genuinely enjoy interacting with the St. Rose family and the public, and want to provide this service to the community.”

Two grants made The Gift Box possible. One is from the St. Rose Health Center Endowment Fund at the Golden Belt Community Foundation; the other is from the Hays Medical Center Foundation. Each grant was $9,000.
