The CT: SOMATOM® Sensation 64-Slice

Computerized Tomography (CT) scans produce advanced, three-dimensional, cross-section images of the body. St. Rose’s doctors use CT scans to help diagnose and monitor conditions like:

  • Bone tumors
  • Fractures
  • Infections
  • Blood clots
  • Cancer
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Internal injuries

Your physician uses CT scans to diagnose certain diseases earlier and more precisely. CTs lead to successful treatments-and can even help save lives.

CT Angiography

CT angiography is a test that uses the technology of a CT scan to create detailed images of the blood vessels in the body. CT angiography helps St. Rose’s physicians diagnose and treat narrowing or obstruction of the arteries, aneurysms and other vascular conditions.

What to Expect

A CT scan is fast, straightforward and painless. It generally takes 15 to 30 minutes. You’ll lie comfortably on your back on a patient table, which will slowly move you through the opening of the examination unit. The opening is large enough to accommodate patients of almost any size. You may be asked to hold your breath or remain still for brief periods.

After the exam, you and your physician will be able to look at an extraordinarily precise image of the inside of your body.

Digital Mammorgaphy: Siemens MAMMOMAT Novation

Digital mammography is better. It’s faster. And it’s here, at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center. We’re pleased to offer you the most advanced diagnostic imaging available today in the fight against breast cancer.

Mammography uses low-dose X-ray technology to examine breasts for both screening and diagnostic purposes. Digital mammography converts X-ray signals into digital signals to produce images directly on a computer screen. New digital mammography technology provides the highest-quality images available with dramatically reduced radiology doses. It allows your doctors to see even the smallest problems and make an earlier diagnosis. St. Rose’s Siemens Mammomat NovationDR Full-field Mammography System means faster exams and better results-that can save your life.

What to Expect

Most mammograms take 15 to 30 minutes. You will stand and have your breast compressed between two plates while a technologist will take a variety of images at different angles. While the procedure may be uncomfortable, most women do not find it painful.

Images will appear immediately on-screen, and your doctor can manipulate and enhance the images while you’re there-resulting in fewer retakes or call-backs, and a more accurate diagnosis.

The MRI: 1.5 Tesla MAGNETOM Symphony

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses powerful magnetic fields to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone and other internal body structures. Your physician may use MRI to diagnose and treat conditions such as:

  • Tumors
  • Developmental
  • Aneurysms abnormalities
  • Stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Arthritis
  • Bone infections

The 1.5 Tesla MAGNETOM Symphony MRI represents the latest technological advancements, delivering higher-quality images in shorter exam times. Plus, its open design makes it ideal for children, claustrophobic patients and those weighing up to 350 pounds.

What to Expect

An MRI test usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. You will be asked to remove anything metal you might have on you, as well as most of your clothes. You will have to lay very still during the test. Coils will be placed on you-but the 1.5 Tesla AGNETOM Symphony MRI uses lightweight coils and an open design for your comfort. MRI exams are usually painless. Your physician will contact you with results in one to two days.
